The NYS Food Donation and
Food Scraps Law goes into effect
January 1st. Are you ready?

If your organization produces more than 2 tons of excess food a week, as of JANUARY 1, 2021, you are obliged to:

Separate and donate edible food

Separate and recycle all remaining food scraps if within 25 miles of an organics recycler. Find your nearest recycler

Feeding New York State – in partnership with NYS DEC and Feeding America®– is here to help explain the new NYS law and make it easier for you to donate edible food and recycle food scraps. For help, call or email our Food Rescue Center.
